The New Kids

Today we took in a couple of rescue donkeys in conjunction with AERO... who paid half their "ransom" and delivered them {thanks!} Sheryl and her son Matt who discovered their plight and contacted AERO also paid half their ransom and even followed them all the way to our place to make sure they were going to be ok.

Meet Gus

and Ruthie

The biggest problem for Gus will be taking the extra weight off

Take a look at the burrs!!

Ruthie has it worse... and this is after HOURS of brushing by the gal who was instrumental in getting them out of the place they were at

and Mikey {The Horseshoeing Housewife} will be showing up here soon to take a look at these:
Ruthie

Gus

Stay tuned!

Poor kiddos. Gus looks like our BaDonkaDonk-both in the face and the weight department.

We're going to have fun with these two. I can always count on you for a challenge, girl.
I'm trying to figure out how to bend myself around all that fat to get to his feet.. wow

well yeah Mikey fat too but i am more worried about you getting under them to pick their feet up without getting BURRS all over YOU... i cannot BELIEVE how many burrs, i was hoping to brush them out before you came but oh no, each one is like pulling teeth, it takes forever...

they are both SO SWEET though <3

Try baby oil. It not only makes the burrs slip out easier-it softens them up so they are not so sharp on your fingers.
Squirt some on and let it sit overnight or all day. Of course it is an oily mess but it works wonders.

Gus is so sweet looking. Those feet are terrible. You have good hearts to take them in.
