Zack's All Better

You will remember the other day that Zack apparently ate some of his mama's poop and was feeling puny... happy to report he's all better now and terrorizing his big brother and Vada as well as his siblings. This is the pup that was nursing before he was even all the way out of the sac... he barks the most, growls the most, seems to do EVERYTHING first or most...

Methinks Ken is going to have his hands full with the little guy LOL.

Cuteness Overload

Not tired of puppy pictures yet are you? Good...

Sherman checking out his baby brothers and sisters

Ziggy thinks he might find something interesting under Darci

Vada is not quite 6 months old but her mama instincts are really strong. She will lay down next to the pups and lift one rear leg, trying to entice them to nurse, and also licks them to stimulate potty just like Hannah does.

Hannah came over and laid down for the pups to nurse but...
"Hey mom - wrong side!!!"
Once back in the crate she wouldn't lay down at all - but that didn't stop our little chow hounds!

Visitors!

Zack & Zoe's new "people parents" came to visit again tonight.

With "strangers" in the house I had to hold Hannah down to nurse...

Zoe obviously feels safe with her new mama!

Zack wasn't feeling all that great. He had an episode... it appeared that he barfed up poop. I had come home to quite a mess with Hannah locked up all day (the girls were gone all day too) and I think he may have eaten some of her mess... has anyone ever experienced anything like this? He only barfed for about a minute, small amounts, but it looked and smelled exactly like Hannah's mess... I had already had to wash all five puppies as they had crawled in it {lovely} so Zack had to have a second bath... yesterday Hilary forgot to shut Hannah's crate when she left for work and Randy came home to a mess on the kitchen floor... but I think we will leave the crate open on purpose from now on. Better to have the mess on the floor than in with the puppies!!!
Poor little guy...

Prayers for a quick recovery are much appreciated :)

Puppy Papa

Y'all remember Zacchaeus (za-KEY-us) the soccer playing dog...

He'll take on all comers including his "wife" and son...

The look on his face was priceless. Just like any new human father... "What am I supposed to do with THESE?"

Until Ahgee came to see the puppies. You can't tell from the picture but Zacchaeus was biting his legs and growling at him! "Get away from my kids!"

Checking to make sure they are all accounted for...

The Newest Rescue

This came home with me today.

He's supposed to ride but bucked off (or attempted to) the last two people to get on. The girls will give him a tune-up and he will be available for adoption.

I'm waiting on information from the animal communicator as to his history and name...

Meanwhile Back At The Ranch

My girls are back safe from their (driving) visit to their big sister in Salt Lake City. They had a great time and came back with lots of pictures. This is Lindsey with Zoe who is my "double granddog" (along with her sister Tally). I say double granddog because they are my daughter's dogs... but they are also my dog's daughters. Well, we lost their mom Chloe a couple of years ago but still... Tank who you have seen on this blog from time to time is their brother, and Shasta is their niece...
All three girls mugging. You would not believe how many shots like this they took goofing with the camera. Guess when sisters get together they can get pretty silly... I don't know, I've never had one. I've decided lately though to make my own :) so watch out Mary, Mel, Linda and Sabrina LOL wonder if we can get FIVE faces in shots like this? hhmmmmm...

Got another package from my blogger pal Debby (Life's Funny Like That) today. Isn't this gorgeous...

And had to share this shot of 3 of our 5 pups. The 2 cuddling are so sweet, that's Zack on top and Zoe on the bottom, they are the ones going to a new home together so I'm glad they seem close! But oh my the one in the back, on his back... TOO CUTE! Taking after Daddy, he loves to sleep on his back like that.

Cliff Jumping Mom Style

After the girls' cliff-jumping adventure we went on in to Hana for an ice cream at the little store, and headed for the Pools of Oheo. I'd forgotten until we rounded corner that this was there:

I was so jazzed by the girls' jump, as soon as I saw this smaller cliff, and the jump into a freshwater pool rather than the ocean waves, I said "I can do THIS!" But I didn't want to go alone so I asked the girls to come along. Lindsey smirked and said this was nothing, not even worth the effort... so she became the assigned photographer. Hilary was kind enough to keep me company.

This is about 20 feet. Nothing right? WRONG! Once I got up top, it took me a good fifteen minutes and Hilary jumping first before I worked up the nerve.

My knees were weak and my heart was pounding but OH WHAT A FEELING!

And oh yeah - once was enough ;)

Cliff Jumping

On the way to Hana we stopped at Waianapanapa State Park, where the black sand beach is. Almost the first thing that caught the girls' attention was this:

See the little people at the top? They were jumping off...

The girls asked me if they could do it and I said yes. They made me promise to take lots of pictures and then rushed off, and my mom asked me if I was crazy. Well they are both very good swimmers and I could see other people doing it and surviving... my feeling was, if I told them no, they would always wonder if they could have done it. And I didn't want to be responsible for that...

But I must admit that the whole time they were swimming out and climbing up I was chanting "please don't die, please don't die"... it's hard to tell from the pictures but we figured it was about a 50 foot jump, into the ocean waves.

First Lindsey

Then Hilary

Then they had to climb out over lava rocks in the waves - later they told us that this was actually the hardest part!

And Hilary had the wounds to prove it!

Silly girl, she was hoping this would leave a scar so she would always remember her cliff dive...

A Trip Down Maui-mory Lane

OK sorry about that one... couldn't help myself. {snort}

Last year my mom took Lindsey and Hilary to Maui for their high school graduation trip. Lindsey was graduating, Hilary just got hers early. And - she wouldn't take them unless I went too, to drive them around and be responsible for them. We had a lot of grand adventures and took a lot of great photos. My mom keeps a photo album at the Maui condo and somehow misplaced the pictures she has asked me to print for her to take along for it. So I had to print them again and mail them this week. Got me thinking about that trip and thought I would share a bit.

On our Road to Hana trip we ended up at the Pools of Oheo (also called the Seven Sacred Pools but that's a tourist thing, there aren't just seven). As we were leaving - bcause it was getting dark - this is what we saw.

Somehow he saw me looking at him and getting out my camera, and he waved at me. I motioned for him to turn and got this great shot:

Then I went scrambling over rocks and creek to the path hoping to get there before he left, and I did! Actually there were two of them, and they chatted with us for a few moments and when they found out we had horses at home that we missed terribly, this is what we got:

That has to be one of the biggest highlights of my trip :)

Play It Again Sam

I started this blog with a post about tractoring the pasture. Last night it rained good and the tractor is fixed so I finally got to do it again.
My mission:

A couple of hours later, woo hoo all done!

Five minutes later, it's already started for next time...
