Indian Springs Wash

Well despite having turned 20 in February, my daughter is still a teenager in that it takes a crowbar to get her out of bed before noon... so, despite my nagging and rushing, we arrived at the parking spot 11 minutes after ride out time... to find one trailer and Kim's car and nobody around. Well, I figured it wouldn't be too hard to follow tracks and find the wash and it was supposed to be an out and back ride... and we did find where they started out at, hoofprints and fresh poop WOO HOO... we followed the wash and it kept splitting and soon we saw no hoof prints and no more poop... but looking back there was a particular shaped mountain so we figured what the heck, we will just go ride around a while, maybe we will find them, maybe we won't, but we should be able to get back to the trailer if we just head for that mountain...

Saw javelina and a big ol bunny and at one point decided we probably should have zigged when we zagged so we went cross country and kept thinking over every ridge we would find the right wash... well after 8 or 10, WE FOUND IT! Hoofprints and, eventually fresh poop YAY! We followed their tracks a little ways and they exited the wash onto a hard-packed gravel road, tracks disappeared but no worries we followed the road... until it split! We actually did choose the right fork this time but shortly after that they made a right turn which we missed on the way out, we followed the road quite a ways and finally decided to head back, on the way back the sun was at a different angle and we saw their prints going off to the left (remember we are coming the other way now) so we turned off that way and followed the tracks and within 10 minutes we spotted two bay arabs and it's Kim and Barb!!! Good thing we did find them because my plan was to take the RIGHT wash back, which would have worked well until almost the end when there was a little trail over a mountain between the two washes which is the turn we (well, Hilary WAS leading I was just following her and taking pictures!) missed within the first 5 minutes getting us lost in the first place... well not lost, we always knew where the trailer was... and we DID eventually find them! We were disappointed to hear that the trail actually goes to a river and we missed that part, but it was beatuiful out there and I hope to go again but will probably take someone else besides my daughter - someone who can actually get out of bed!! We saw lots of pretty flowers too. So here are a few pictures...

And we did have some fun moving out in the nice wash on the way back!!
