A Doggie Visit

Randy and I, along with our friend Rose, took Mary's three dogs to visit her today. And of course I forgot the camera... but Mary was thrilled to see the dogs, and the dogs were thrilled to see her. The hardest part was going home because she cried when we had to leave... we really hope to have her home by next weekend!

73 Bales

That is how much hay I brought home today. Thank goodness I don't have to load it since I have to unload it. Many thanks to boarder Chuck who helped me with the 30 bales of mix... he had to take off but after a rest I did 16 bales of oat hay by myself. Thank goodness it's lighter than the mix... only 27 left for tomorrow. OH BOY!

A Special Mini Visit

Last night Mary was transferred from the hospital to a rehab center for a few days of intense rehab. When I found that out I called and arranged to bring the minis in between the other two visits I already had scheduled with senior care homes today. I asked them NOT to tell her we were coming and they didn't, so she was really surprised - when she realized it was us and horses she lit up like a Christmas tree!

In discussing this visit we found out we are allowed to bring her dogs to visit her so that is the plan for Sunday!

A "Grand-dog" Pupdate

On the way to Hilary's dance recital tonight I got to stop by and visit my granddogs Zack and Zoe since their parents live near her school. Since I still can't figure out the new camera and the old one does NOT take good pictures without a flash, which was not allowed, I have no dance recital pictures, but I DO have puppy pictures :)

Remember these two?

My how they have grown!

Zack with the ball (that is a stuffed animal behind him, NOT what you think!!!)

They were playing tag... got Zoe but Zack was already almost out of the frame by the time I clicked!

Nonstop wrassling!

It was great to see how well loved they are!

Contraband

Finally got to go back to the hospital to visit Mary... and took her a holiday shake from Chik-Fil-A, peppermint chocolate chip YUM! She was halfway through her first meal of solid food since the accident but quickly set it aside lol. I am so proud to have such an amazing friend... with all that she has been through, she still has that twinkle in her eye and a big smile...

Another Mary Update

Thank you all for your prayers...Mary says she can feel them, she wasn't even afraid going into surgery last night. It went well, they were able to do both fractures through one incision and it took about half as long as they expected. They also found some torn ligaments that were causing a little internal bleeding and fixed those as well. They estimate THREE MONTHS recovery and said she is not to drive for that length of time, and can only put weight on one leg at a time so as not to stress the fracture sites. She is hoping to be moved from ICU to her own room tomorrow, and start PT as they will not let her go home until she can get herself up onto one leg all alone...

Randy was able to stop and see her tonight on his way home from work, he knows I feel bad about not being able to get down there and he said "Don't worry, I will go for both of us", and he got her a toothbrush and helped her figure that whole thing out... and I am hoping to get over to see her tomorrow on a long lunch! It sure doesn't help that they took her to a hospital that is over an hour from us {sigh} but it is the best place for her to be and that is what is most important!

Mary Update

Once the orthopedist showed up to look at Mary's X-rays, he told her that she had broken it not only in the front, which was quite obvious - even I could see it - she also has a second fracture in the back. So surgery was scheduled for 6pm, and would last a minimum of four hours... I got a call about 8:40 tonight and my phone said MARY and I thought "what the heck???", I answered and sure enough it was Mary, they bumped her surgery back to 9pm... so she should be under repair as I type.

Mary has a great sense of humor and it is helping all of us through this... another friend Lisa reported her conversation of this afternoon, Mary said she would be getting screwed tonight, and Lisa replied that at least it would be a rich guy doing it (the surgeon)... anyway I would really appreciate continued prayers for Mary, she was told the recovery time would be three months and that 95% of people heal just fine, but 5% don't... and Lisa is one of them, so she tells us that we need Mary to be in that 95%!!!!!

I would also appreciate prayers for my friend Lynn... she finished chemo in June and her hair is finally growing back in... her blood tests have been good until the last one. Levels were up and they were concerned so tested again and the news was bad, the cancer is back and chemo was re-started today. And there is Mary, lying in the hospital bed telling me that she will spend her day praying for Lynn...

Thank you all for your support, I know it's coming :)
