OK, maybe this person has good intentions... but all I can say is SHEESH! What kind of miracles do you think we can perform???
I got this e-mail today, a quote forwarded back a couple of times through people that have forwarded out a plea to help the "trailer of death dogs"... and unfortunately without the initiating e-mail address attached to it...
"I don’t know the full situation that’s mentioned here– is there a summary document somewhere that succinctly lists the situation, address, description of each animal (sex, s/n status, approximate age, breed, medical condition, etc.), where they are now, temperament, etc.?
I don’t see much detail in this – if she wants help from the rescue community she needs to make it really easy to see/evaluate the situation. I see a few stories on the blog, but no comprehensive synopsis of the situation and the need. If someone can get that from her, that would be great. Thx,"
Now I ask you, any of you who have been reading the blog (as this person implies they have): Haven't we made it clear what the situation is? That we can't get close to the dogs until we have them in a trap? That we don't even know HOW MANY there really are??? How can they ask for a "summary document" that "succinctly" lists the "description of each animal" under these circumstances? This person also implies that we don't really WANT help since we haven't given sufficient details... or a "comprehensive synopsis of the situation and the need". The e-mail I sent out asked for foster or adoptive homes and gave all the information we have, which honestly isn't much. But again, SHEESH!!!!! I am just flabbergasted...
Today's update isn't any different. I am going out every day with dog food. The last 4 days, it has not been totally eaten (but still quite a bit gone). 2 of those days I didn't see hide nor hair of any of the dogs. The last 2 days we saw 2 each day, I think the same 2. Tonight there was only 1... but the guys were there again cleaning up, so I was actually surprised to even see that 1. We really need to place #2 so we can go trap another one...
We can only hope that the 6 I personally saw that first Saturday morning are all of them and that the neighbor who said 12 was mistaken. If so, we have 2, and since I have only seen 2 others recently, we can only wonder if they are scattering or have died or been killed...
I am so frustrated!!!

People are idiots. She wants the details? Get off her butt and go sit out there and coax the dogs out so she can check their ID cards.
Fingers crossed for you guys!!
Sometimes, people look for excuses. The excuses, here is, if you can't provide all the details then there is no help. Well like Mrs. Mom said, she can READ the blogs! EVERYTHING is in the blogs plain as day! You gals are doing one heck of a job! I am trying to help in that I am posting on my blog too.
You and MIKEY NEED TO CALL THE MEDIA!~CALL DATELINE! 20/20~ ELLEN she is an an animal lover.
voltage, your comment was removed as it was not productive.
you tell me voltage, what PERSONAL experience you have with these dogs. we have caught two of them and neither one was aggressive at all. they WERE killers because that old man was starving them and they had no choice. we have had hands on these dogs and they are NOT vicious. be that as it may, we have been 100% honest with the adopters about the history of these dogs as we know it, including killing the neighbor's chickens, dog, and rancher's calf or calves. if you put your hands on those poor dogs and felt the bones beneath the skin, with NO meat in between, maybe you'd have a little more compassion for an animal that was abused by a human. until then, i will invite you to stay off my blog.
ah, mystery solved. "voltage" is Steve the neighbor whose dog was killed, either a year or two ago depending conflicting stories i have gotten. and it was also reported that AC took all but 3 of the dogs at that time, which means the dogs we are talking about may or may NOT even be the same ones... and we know for sure that the little girl #2 is too young to have even been born yet. so anyone reading comments please take the source into consideration.
:)
You bet I am Steve and haven`t tried to hide that. I have had to put up with his dogs running around killing other animals for 14 years. If you lived in this area you might know just what your talking about. Also if you would like to talk to me in person just let me know as I don`t try to hide from anyone. Those dogs have never been penned up and have run in a pack for all these years. Whan one dies another one has several pups and they take over packing. So please do not tell me that I don`t know what I`m talking and that you do as you do not live out here.
Steve we are going our best to help you and your neighbors by getting the dogs caught. in the meantime we are keeping them fed in the hopes they don't bother any of you. you are more than welcome to help as are any of the rest of the neighbors but i don't see anyone volunteering.
as far as the dogs, all i can say is what i personally know, from the two we have gotten hold of. i didn't know the old man but it's obvious he did not feed his dogs. and i can't blame them for feeding themselves as best they could if he did not. it's their instinct to pack and hunt for food. so blame the old man, not the dogs, and NOT US. we are doing the best we can in a bad situation. i'm just sorry, for the dogs' sake, that no one did something about this. if it's been going on for 14 years, seems there was plenty of opportunity.
Voltage. These animals may be problem animals but it is because you had a crazy ass neighbor. You cannot blame an animal for fending for himself as best he can if he is not cared for. Any animal would do it. Your would too. It's just the fact of it. Your question seems to be: can these animals be reliably resocialized? Yes. You've no further to look than Michael Vick's dogs. I imagine that there are truly lost causes, but you really cannot argue with the fact that the two dogs brought out of there seem to enjoy human contact. It requires patience. If you don't have it, step back from the people who are willing to try. Give credit where credit is due. My own dog was 'a lost cause'. He is the most loyal dog that I've ever owned. Easiest? No. Worth it? Yes. How much you are willing to put into an animal is a personal choice.
