Here comes Madeline with her mama Betty Jean
And she's still coming... if I used the measuring stick right, she is just 26 1/2 inches tall at the withers!
Kinda hard to get pictures when they won't stay back! Gotta love this face...
She discovered that the mineral block can be a good scratching block too! She was so very very careful scratching near her eye, it was adorable... that's John Henry and his mama Peggy Sue watching her.
Little Miss Madeline and John Henry the pest lol.
But poor Madeline, after the photo shoot I locked her up in a separate pen and she doesn't understand why... but it's almost time to start weaning and I need to know that she is eating solid food well on her own before she goes to her new home. The way it works is, lock up the foal, then mama can come stand next to the fence if she feels the need to release pressure on her udder, but mama controls how much baby is still nursing... I feel bad though because she doesn't understand why it's necessary. This week I am the MEAN grandma!!

Being a donkey mom is not a lot different from being a kid's mom. Sometimes you just have to do what's best for them.
